Our design studio is run on the philosophy of top-to-bottom project ownership and ‘buy-in’. By that we mean that all members of the project team have a deep involvement in our projects, and have personal and collective pride in their delivery. Everyone makes, and has, a personal investment in our work.
To achieve this we carefully select our team, and nurture our talent, be that our young architects or trainees, to our mature professionals.
All these talented individuals have something major to contribute, and have a voice within the office. We all need to learn to make ourselves even better architects, and the best way of doing this is on the job, through peer review, discussion and sharing through formal and informal ‘design reviews’, and through being given responsibility and ownership (under close direction). In doing this everybody cares deeply about the office’s projects – they are not working for the office but within the office, with pride in their accomplishments – triumphs are shared and each team member is personally invested in their work.
