Platres – Limassol
Located deep in the pine forest of Platres village, the main challenge of the brief for this high luxury cottage was to preserve as many of the imposing pine trees as possible. Focusing on the mostly empty areas of the site, the living spaces were first placed between the trees, fragmenting and modularizing the resulting built mass, and embracing them in certain areas to form an organic fusion between built and natural.
A particular palate of materials was then used specifically to complement this fusion, with natural local stone raising and supporting the architecture from the ground, and timber acting as an interface between modern and traditional. Green patinated copper and fair-faced concrete then dress the straight strict architectural planes intersecting the site, while the whole is finished with vintage black-painted cast-iron metal elements for balustrades and external staircases.
