The ‘Waterfront Cultural and Commercial Quarter’ is phase 1 of the Larnaca Port and marina masterplan. A new public events piazza will be created which will extend the existing Europe Square in front of the colonial buildings at the northern end of the Phoenikoudes beach front, and the extensive marina side walk. 10,000m² of retail and dining offerings will be created within intimate avenues and internal courtyards between and within the new building groupings. The architectural concept for the area is to create abstractions of the existing old city and colonial buildings architecture and float these enclosed volumes above ground, creating a fully glazed ground level affording striking views of the new marina and an exciting commercial environment for tourists and locals alike.
